Bluffton chamber makes this year's holiday light contests more fun

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Blaze Committee is re-writing the rules for 2011’s holiday lighting contest. The new contest involves lots of chamber member participation. Here’s an outline of this year’s downtown lighting contest plan:

Downtown
Lauren Beasley of Citizens National Bank, will create a judging sheet. Each chamber business in the retail district will receive one sheet. The business may form it own judging committee or may decide who is the judge for that business. When the judging deadline is up, Blaze Committee members will collect the judging sheets, the scores will be tabulated and three winning businesses will be announced.

This year the chamber invites businesses to donate prizes for the downtown lighting contest. As prizes are collected they will be presented to the employees of the top three business winners.

Remember this year’s Blaze theme: “Winter Wonderland.”

State Route 103
This year the chamber will contact businesses on State Route 103 to see if they wish to have their own lighting contest. That announcement will be made later this fall.

Residential
A residential light contest is being developed. The chamber invites businesses to offer prizes to give to winners. In this new system, it is hoped that more residents will decorate their yards.
