Lots going on in Bluffton this long weekend

What’s happening in Bluffton this weekend? Lots. You just have to know where to look. Here’s a list of activities taking place in the third weekend of December.

SATURDAY, DEC. 17
Elf School
 - For children who are especially excited about celebrating Christmas, the library Teen Advisory Group will be hosting Elf School from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with “special guest” Buddy the Elf!

Children in grades pre-kindergarten to sixth grade will learn how to properly trim a Christmas tree, wrap gifts, silently stuff stockings, sing carols and play reindeer games.

Registration is requested for this program and children are encouraged to wear festive clothing. Parent accompaniment is also requested for children ages 3-5. For more information, visit the library or call 419-358-5016.

Santa at The Curling Iron – From 11 a.m. to noon is your chance to sit on Santa’s lap.

MONDAY, DEC. 19
Two school concerts are planned in the middle school cafetorium. At 6 p.m. is the middle school band and strings. At 7:15 p.m. the Bluffton High School band and strings will perform.

ALSO
Peanut brittle is going fast! It’s available while the supply lasts, which won’t be long, according to Tonya Meyer. The Bluffton-made candy is available at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center for $5 a pound.
Another Christmas gift idea is Bluffton playing cards, based on historical photos representing Bluffton. Decks are $10 each, while supplies last.

Make certain you take an evening walk on Main Street’s business district. Bluffton’s business windows are among the most decorative in any small town in northwestern Ohio. This year’s top winners are: The Black Lab, first place; Citizens National Bank, second place; Groves Collectibles and Antiques, third place.

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs offers a 2012 art calendar. It features 13 pages of this year's art auction works. Calendars are available at Greg's Pharmacy and Common Grounds for a suggested donation of $10 each.
Ream holiday folk art exhibit will be lit on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn nightly through Jan. 1.

The Gift of Giving Light Show extravaganza will be shown on East College Avenue across from Harmon Field nightly through Jan. 1.

Maps of Bluffton that show where holiday lights are displayed are available free at the red mailbox on the Presbyterian Church lawn, Bluffton Marathon, Greg’s Pharmacy, The Dough Hook, Circle K and Bluffton BP. The maps are also available as an attachment to this story.
