Residential Lights Contest
Bluffton shines brightest at Christmas, and this year we’re making it easier than ever to celebrate our most festive homes. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the Residential Lights Competition, recognizing the beautiful holiday displays that help make our community feel warm, welcoming, and full of Christmas spirit.
What’s New This Year?
There are so many beautifully decorated homes in Bluffton, and many do not register for the competition. This year, we’re changing that.

No registration required. Every decorated residence within the Village of Bluffton limits is automatically eligible for judging.

Chamber Board judging. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Board will again serve as the judging panel.

More visible recognition. Winners will receive special yard signs to display throughout the Christmas season.
Awards & Prizes
We will recognize four standout homes:

1st Place – Commemorative yard sign + $100 gift card

2nd Place – Commemorative yard sign + $75 gift card

3rd Place – Commemorative yard sign + $50 gift card

The Mayor’s Choice award is a returning favorite, continuing the tradition of honoring a home that truly captures Bluffton’s Christmas spirit.
Yard Signs

Winners will receive a yard sign for their award (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Mayor’s Choice).

Signs will be displayed in winners’ yards throughout the Christmas season.

After the season, the Chamber will collect yard signs so they can be used in future competitions.
Eligibility & Timing

Eligibility: Decorated residential properties within the Village of Bluffton limits are automatically included.

We ask that, if possible, decorations are in place by the Blaze of Lights on November 29, 2025, to help create a festive atmosphere for this beloved community event.

Judging: Judging will take place in early December, with Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Board members serving as judges.
How to Participate
Because there is no registration this year, all you have to do is:

Decorate your home for the Christmas season.

Make sure your lights are turned.

Watch for winners to be announced on the Chamber’s website, social media, and the Bluffton Icon.
Why We Made This Change
Bluffton is full of holiday spirit, and many residents decorate beautifully without ever entering a contest. By removing the registration requirement, we can recognize more homes, celebrate more neighbors, and highlight the community-wide effort that makes Bluffton such a special place to visit and live during the holidays.
